Adelaide based anaesthetist and tech diver. Part time diving medicine physician. Cave diving enthusiast!
That's me in a nutshell! I started diving in 1979 officially, but I'd been a keen spearo and occasional hookah diver for a couple of years before that. I was lucky to grow up in sunny South Australia, home of leafy sea-dragons, great white sharks and freshwater caves. Work and diving have taken me to many countries including a spell in the UK, New Zealand and 2 years in Vanuatu. My passion is cave exploration and imaging. I confess to being a bit of a depth junkie which is kind-of illogical because you spend a long time in the water to see very little sometimes!
I dive rebreathers because they allow me to go where I want but I don't completely trust them, and I dive in a state of healthy paranoia! On the other hand when you are in a siltout at 100m, it is VERY reassuring to know time is essentially not a factor.
I hope this site takes off. I may be naive but I welcome the exchange of information and ideas between different groups of divers world wide. Keep you locations off the internet to protect the caves, but join up and tell us what you are up to! The Cave Spot is here for you, so make of it what you will.
Dive safely
